A Flow Control Concept for Aero-Optics using Numerical Simulations

Numerical simulations were performed as a pre-test analysis of a flow control device to reduce density fluctuations around a hemispherical turret in a high-speed regime. Loci-Chem CFD code using hybrid RANS/LES turbulence model will be performed to determine the operability of these proof-of-concept designs. Due to the unsteadiness of the problem, time-accurate simulations will be performed. The numerical results will be presented in terms of shadowgraph images, streamlines and optical path difference (OPD).
