CREATE-AV ADAPT's role in digital engineering for aircraft design

This presentation will discuss how CREATE-AV ADAPT fits into a digital engineering pipeline for aircraft design. It will first provide an overview of ADAPT, to give context to audience members unfamiliar with ADAPT. Next, the presentation will detail ADAPT's aircraft design optimization capabilities, including how those capabilities take advantage of HPCMP resources like the DSRCs. This will include brief descriptions of how both large Design of Experiments are run, as well as optimization. Finally, the presentation will explain how ADAPT plays a role in a digital engineering pipeline. This includes using ADAPT as a data standard for industry delivering aircraft design data to the government, in-house government use of ADAPT for technical assessments of design and performance, and using ADAPT to automatically generate input files for engagement and mission level operational effectiveness tools.

IMPACT

Accomplishment: Developed software that lets DoD engineers quickly quantify the technical feasibility of requirements for new aircraft programs. Result: Decision makers have the data needed to set requirements correctly up front, allowing warfighters to get needed equipment on time.
