Hypersonic Plasma Sheath Effects on Laser Systems
The plasma sheath formed around hypersonic objects is investigated for various properties. Theoretical analysis is performed on plasma phenomena relevant to the problem set. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations are used to validate theoretical models, and the scenario is simulated via Particle-in-Cell (PIC) simulations. Approved for public release; distribution is unlimited. Public Affairs release approval #AFRL20252984.
IMPACT
Analyzed hypersonic flow field data for efficacy of cutting-edge weapon systems; provided critical guidance to direct future innovation for DoD missile defense strategy.
